What a summer!! I always think I’m going to have lots of time to relax and catch up on things during the summer but I somehow end up super busy! Lately Scott and I have been busy with house hunting! I haven’t even recapped my amazing girls trip in DC. That isn’t 100% my fault though because my friend Cara has yet to send me her pics… so until then no recap on the sites we saw!
Lucky for you guys I took all my own food photos so how about I kick off my first ever What I Ate Wednesday with the DC grub! Big thanks to Jenn for hosting!
Oh my goodness if you want amazing food go to DC!!!! We ate and we ate and we ate some more!!! Thankfully we walked a TON so that helped with all the eating!
Once we were all reunited in DC we headed right out so Cara could get some food and we could all get some drinks! Gotta love a classic margarita! NOM NOM!!!!
For dinner that night we hit up a yummy Thai place!
We started out with drinks of course! and some appetizers which we ate so fast that I forgot to photograph them…. whoops
For my meal I ordered Pad Thai, which is my all time FAVORITE Thai meal!!!!! It was delicious!
On Wednesday we saw TONS of sites and walked all over downtown DC!!!!! It was insane the amount of walking we did! By about 3pm we were starving and ready for a cold drink! So we hopped on the metro and headed to CHINATOWN!!!! The best place in DC to find food!!!!
We of course started out with drinks!!!! I got a Lychee martini that was AMAZING!!!! DC knows how to do happy hour! Here in MN our happy hours are from 3-6pm but in DC their happy hours are from like 4-8pm! AWESOME!!!
We got some yummy apps! Spring rolls and curry puffs…. and a salad to share!
I can’t remember what that salad was called but it was so good!!!!! Wednesday evening we bar hopped and ate a bunch…. I don’t really have any more pictures of the food from wednesday evening because we may have gotten a bit wild What else are girls trips for!
On to thursday….. we took a while to get moving, may have been a bit hung over But eventually we made out way to Georgetown! I found myself some delicious fish tacos in Georgetown!
So fresh and delicious!!!! The best part about this restaurant is they brought us fresh salted pretzels as a starter. Some places give you bread this place gives you pretzels…. The three of us pretty much fell in love with our waiter when he put the plate of pretzels down! #hangoverfood
After an amazing meal it was time for dessert! Georgetown Cupcakes!!!
I got a cookies and cream cupcake with mint frosting! NOM NOM
YAY for famous cupcakes!!! We didn’t stop at cupcakes though…. we also stopped at a Macaron place and bought a box to bring back to our hotel room!
SOOOOOOO many options!!! It was hard to choose!
I am now a HUGE lover of Macarons!!!!!
This little baby had bacon in it! SOOOO GOOD!!!!!
Thursday night we were super tired so we ordered pizza and had a girls night in!
I love pizza that is LOADED with toppings…. and of course we had to have bread sticks!!!! I love my bread
Friday we woke up much more refreshed and ready for some site seeing! When we got off the metro at the Smithsonian stop there was a lovely farmers market going on! We decided to have lunch at the farmers market.
We started off with some yummy olives while we waited in line!
I got a Samosa which was filled with spinach and potatoes
And a Chicken pastry. Both were very good!
For dinner Friday night we went to an Indian restaurant near our hotel. It was ok…. Indian food isn’t my absolute favorite… and of course I forgot to take pictures
Saturday for dinner we had an AMAZING seafood meal!
We started out with crab cakes and calamari!!!!
Cara had to get prepped for her meal
I got a meal that came with three kinds of fish, shrimp, scallops, sautéed mushrooms and coleslaw! SO GOOD!
I was definitely food envious of cara’s meal! I don’t remember what is was called but it was a broth filled with TONS of seafood! It was amazing…. I stole a bunch We went back to our hotel stuffed!!
Sunday…. our last day…. cars had to go to school for orientation so Sarah and I hit downtown DC for one last time! We had to go to Chinatown again for another amazing meal! We decided Thai food was the way to go and found some delicious Pad Thai!
The most impressive part of this meal, besides the AMAZING flavor, was the fact that I ate it all with chop sticks! GO ME!!!
This concludes all the amazing eats in DC!!! I really had a blast and enjoyed every minute with my lovers Cara and Sarah!!
Whats the best thing you ate on vacation?
